About Violet de la Torre

Violet de la Torre is an independent filmmaker, special effects makeup artist, multidisciplinary artist, and content creator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her work uses horror, film, and visual art to celebrate creativity, bring people together, champion independent cinema, and foster community.

Her SFX makeup has been featured in Phantasmag magazine and several independent short films. Specializing in prosthetic application, sculpting, latex mask-making, and painting, she brings characters to life both on camera and for live theatrical events.

As a filmmaker, Violet writes and produces original short films independently and serves as a co-founder at 3 Knocks Productions, whose short Cuddle streamed on Screamify. She also covers film festivals, interviews filmmakers, and highlights independent films that deserve a larger audience.

Violet collaborates regularly with studios, marketing teams, festivals, and fellow creators to produce promotional content, handle event makeup, and build immersive horror experiences. She is dedicated to connecting local artists and growing the Bay Area film community.

Before focusing on film and art full-time, Violet spent over 14 years as an early childhood educator—an experience that continues to ground her work in empathy, curiosity, and encouraging others to create. Ultimately, Violet uses her art and platform to build connection, support independent creators, and help outcasts feel a little less alone.
